Military Week - Friday
I have only come across a few markers that mention more than one war/conflict and this was my first that had three: World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War.
When I found her obituary I saw that Ms. Smith was an Army dental technician serving for 38 years. That is definitely service to your country!!

Military Week - Thursday
I always try to find the obituary or some other information from a database when I post a gravestone. Sometimes I find some tragic deaths and sometimes I find milestones I never knew. Today's is the latter. While searching for a military related gravestone to honor this Military Week, I found:
My first thought was she was so young. Not yet 31 years old. Then I find the obituary and towards the read this line "Mrs. Frazier was the first colored WAC from Frederick". WOW. Impressive. I'm sure she probably had some good stories to tell!

Military Week 2013 - Tuesday
Staying with the Revolutionary War theme. I found the following markers at Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Emmitsburg, Frederick County Maryland. It is for Christian Clos and his wife. Preliminary research shows her name was probably Catherine but different sources have different maiden names.
In
memory of
CHRISTIAN CLOS
who departed this
life september 25
1825 aged 67 year
His wife: "C.C. 1825"
I like how her plaque has "Daughter And Wife of a Revolutionary Solider"
Thank you for your service Christian Clos

Military Week 2013 - Monday
For the second year in a row, I will be posting gravestones I have come across that honor our nation's veterans.
As I visit more and older cemeteries, I am coming across Revolutionary War markers. Today's is found at the Apples United Church of Christ, Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland. The odd thing about this one is it is a modern marker.

Sheila and Katherine Lyon-UPDATE
In today's Washington Examiner there was an article about Sheila and Katherine Lyon. I have to say do like how they run " Missing" articles to keep these lost loved ones in the public eye. Here is the link to the article: Lyon sisters went missing in 1975
